Zunckel Ecological & Environmental Services is Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) compliant and according to South African law have achieved a Level 4 compliance rating.
We invest heavily in skills and enterprise development in the following areas:
- We initiated iPhepha Beads (Paper Bead Jewellery Project) in October 2011 which is an empowerment project with a number of self-help groups of mostly women from the misty Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal Midlands of South Africa who are upcycling paper from glossy magazines, boxes, calendars, brochures and other paper, creating beauty out of waste. The jewellery is interspersed with natural fillers including glass, wood, invasive alien seeds, and buttons with minimal use of metal or plastic imports. Each item is 100% unique and handmade.
- Pro-bono work, i.e. WESSA Eco-schools projects, Green Safari Africa Project, Sustainability Event Coordination, etc.
- We have a fund which is set aside for social upliftment. We have paid for the building of a house for a vulnerable pensioner. The fund is accruing funds once more, possibly for sponsoring a bursary.
- We have mentored a number of junior consultants over the years.
